Item Upgrading The Process Isn t As Hard As You Think

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the item to which it is applied (for instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using less Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know how much it can be improved upon the reset.

Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a high chance that the item could become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph, this will either be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using the Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.

When the player upgrades a piece of equipment the original item is replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item upgrader mod comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't need it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item upgrade is highly valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrade of items allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item, it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For instance they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade items. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the cost listed above.
