3 Ways The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops Can Influence Your Life
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault works as a product analyst at Good Housekeeping's Home Care and Cleaning Lab.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment. His main focus is mopping and robot vacuum combinations. These multitaskers are an excellent choice for those who want to take mopping off their to-do list. They are equipped with impressive mapping and obstacles-avoiding capabilities, and some wash and refill their own mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model to pick if you are looking for an automatic hoover vacuum cleaner (forums.indexrise.com) that can also mop. It's smaller than the other options on this list making it easier to navigate into tight corners and underneath furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar which, when paired with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the best robot vacuum navigation and object avoidance I've ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It has a 4600mAh battery that can last for up to 170 minutes if mopping and sucking is set to standard mode. (It can be more efficient when using turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery halfway through cleaning.
It's extremely quick and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways with only one motion. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt as well as pet hair and even droppings easily. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease out dirt from corners.
The mopping efficiency is less impressive, though not by a lot. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and uses 2.2lbs to scrub dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms protrude out a bit more than other robots, which is helpful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. Those same front arms can be used to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys or books.
The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't create the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The only drawback is that the S1 Pro must use a specific cleaning solution to perform mopping and is sold separately from the vacuum. It is simple to install and performs well. However, if you are buying this vacuum solely for mopping, you will need to pay attention to this.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want an extremely efficient, flexible, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device is equipped with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map your home and locate furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean effectively and efficiently. This ensures a thorough and consistent clean and is also rapid.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching a wide range of surface areas. This includes corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach areas. They also have a flexible side brush that can extend to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. Additionally, the mop pads can be dried and washed to prevent build-up and reduce the odors.
Another feature worth mentioning is the customizable options available via apps. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction level and select an back-and-forth or random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes which will determine how quickly it can move around your home. You can also disable the side brush in order to prevent damage to carpets and rug.
This device is expensive but it comes with a lot of smart features. It is important to remember that the device is subject to recurring expenses in the form mopping supplies as well as regular maintenance. For instance the brushroll should be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads should be replaced every one to three month.
The robot vacuum mop has a high Amazon rating and comes with an array of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an energy button that doubles as a 'Clean' button' as well as a 'Home' button to send it back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock which automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a busy professional or someone who wants a cleaner home without spending much time doing chores The Shark Matrix Plus is a good choice. It has powerful performance, smart navigation, and a long battery life that allows you to keep your home clean with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, that is, it can do both vacuuming and mopping. The robot is divided into two parts which include a dry bin and water tank that can be easily snapped in and out and a mopping module which includes microfiber pads. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may seem a bit old-fashioned but they're a good thing because that you don't need to worry about changing bags for disposables or refilling the tank with water.
Our test subjects found that the Matrix Plus did a great job of vacuuming as well as mopping. Its best feature is its precise floorplan map, which it uses when cleaning. It was easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture rug, furniture and other obstacles. The app also gives you the option of setting 'No-Go zones' and virtual barriers that help to shield certain areas of your house from being cleaned with mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a remarkable job at picking up hair from pets. It was able capture some of the hair our cats shed, and even got into some of the corners and crevices of our stairs, where other robots struggled. It was quiet and had some pleasant jingles that indicated when it was starting or finished its work.
The biggest flaws were its lack of sophistication and the need to swap out the modules when switching between mopping and vacuuming. The app is not able to save multiple maps. This could be a problem if your home has multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want a smart robot cleaner with mop that can perform both mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that can be found in our review, but it also has distinctive features that are worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot mop, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and the 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base has a couple of buttons for control that allow you to manually start a cleaning task or recall the robot, or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a nice feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.
The X1 Omni, like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to detect obstacles and furniture in its path. It will stay clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can occasionally become so entangled with an obstacle--such as the power cord that is draped across a rug--that it becomes stuck and ceases to function until you manually free it. This was a rare incident, but frustrating nonetheless, because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert on its application.
The X1 Omni cannot automatically switch from mopping mode to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad, except that mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This could lead to mildew and mold.
On the bright side the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for a market dominated by clunky boxy units.
