The upgrade of an item upgrades allows players to increase the gear score of an item upgrades to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally there are many weapons with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a single unit. This bonus may be more than the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a good aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could render them useless unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to increase their effectiveness. For instance, if you have a helm or chest, this will increase its defense base while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it could reroll to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the menu for items. This will roll an Best item upgrader and alter its stats, but not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor

A few tweaks to your armor can make a a huge difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. The more defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health you have, so it's important to upgrade your armor as often as you can.

To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock them all, you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest and the associated fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each will vary. In general, you'll need at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in cold environments with a large group of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to survive a battle with your friends.

It isn't possible to upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or the power of spells. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you will still be wearing by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you use in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also gain advantages to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have some upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed, provide the user with an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades changes depending on what type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the Best item upgrade's Mark Level and Rarity.

To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Upgrading potions can be done in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.

Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be used in cauldrons. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.

Lastly, there are now lingering potions that are brewed with splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to extend their effects. The table of potions has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.

Trinkets

In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when selecting which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it can be saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
