It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a great deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot mop that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums uk we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
