Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

upgrade items components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade item non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allows the player to modify their equipment.
