The Next Big Thing In Item Upgrading
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it is likely that the item will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate chances of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade item your equipment. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs to be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced by a new item. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely useful in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of its unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item upgrader mod can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item upgrader mod to go to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned, such as crit chance, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item level upgrade could have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items might have different upgrade requirements than regular gear. For instance they might require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
