WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item upgrader kit but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using a button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item upgrader mod slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an Item level Upgrade has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will be less expensive, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
