World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This is the sum of all the upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips for items. It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.

The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to give items additional damage, special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by adding a name.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items which can be added to the upgrade items gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more useful in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each item level. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade items. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%.

Note that item upgrades are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade item overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
