Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide For Item Upgrades
Path of Exile item level upgrade Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the effectiveness of the item upgrader mod they are connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kit to retrieve upgrade components from other items.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to take on. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to be heavier than it was before.
There are several different types of armor upgrades available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. For instance, certain upgrades will give the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.
Some upgrades also feature magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which is shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are continuously updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, but can be found at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give significant improvement in stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to its max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The defensive boost gained typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.
Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon upgrade item NPC located in Central Flarine.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Previously, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased level of rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this, but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a better chance of bringing you the best tier of perks and blessings.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to boost their strength. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, in which you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the jewel, the better its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the gem it will give different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.
The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones, which require an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. You can only replace the gem only once in a piece of equipment.
The use of more jewels in a movement can make it feel more comfortable and is usually done for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide a wide range of small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of good team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item Upgrade that is being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade since it's generally more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand, will choose a green or a pink ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
Aside from the items listed above, players can find other items in the form of awards and trophies. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing a chapter’s main quest or beating the boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
